Domestic Violence-Informed Practice for Family Consultants
Family Consultants play a crucial role in helping Australia's courts reach decisions on the best outcomes for children and families - including families impacted by domestic violence. Whether domestic violence is the precipitating cause for a Family Consultant’s involvement in a case or is part of a family’s history, the full range of facts surrounding domestic violence must be considered in writing family reports and making recommendations.
This training is designed to introduce the basics of the Safe & Together Model and connect the Model concepts and practice skills to specific application guidance for Family Consultants. In this package, we combine three foundational e-courses with three 4-hour, instructor-led practice sessions to enhance the skills of Family Consultants in advocating for safe and healthy children and families and pivoting the court’s attention back to the perpetrator as parent.
